When you are injured at work, both you and your family suffer. Besides the effect an accident or injury will have on your health and mobility, you must now survive on workers compensation benefits which are generally two-thirds (or even less) of your normal earnings. The insurance company will send you to their company doctors and you will most likely not be advised of all the benefits to which you are entitled, including outside medical examination and treatment, a permanent disability award, vocational retraining, or, with certain job injuries, lifetime medical care.
